Mrs Portman has an avid interest in film, culture and society, and studied English at Aberystwyth University before going on to complete a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education at the University of Chichester. Ms Portman has taught at Littlehampton for twenty years, where she has undertaken various roles including Deputy Head of Sixth Form, Subject Leader for Media Studies, Computing and ICT. She has also been a leading teaching practitioner, helping other staff to develop their teaching skills.

Mrs Portman has also worked for the British Council developing teachers’ skills in using digital technologies in Trinidad and Tobago and also taken part in a study tour of the ‘New Tech’ school programme in Texas, USA. Mrs Portman was awarded BTEC Highly Commended Tutor of the year and has also received a ‘Good Schools Guide’ award for the best teaching of GCSE media studies in the country.

Ms Portman is a very keen reader, with a particular interest in contemporary women’s fiction. Her interest in film means that she also reads biographies and autobiographies from directors and actors. She is a keen gamer and is trying to learn how to code. She likes to relax by walking her dogs and holidaying in France and Austria.
