Key Stage 5

In Key Stage 5 the exam board is EDEXCEL.

 

You will study UK politics and government, which will give you a set of core knowledge and understanding of politics. You will then develop this knowledge and understanding further looking at Comparative Politics investigating sovereignty and globalisation, global governance: political and economic, global governance: human rights and environmental, power and developments, regionalism and the European Union, comparative theories.

 

The assessment structure is three examinations:

UK Politics: 1.Political Participation, students will study democracy and participation, political parties, electoral systems, voting behaviour and the media. 2. Core Political Ideas, students will study conservatism, liberalism, socialism.

Paper 2

2 hours

The UK Government: students will study the constitution, parliament, Prime Minister and executive, relationships between the branches. 2. Non-core political ideas, students will study one idea from anarchism, ecologism, feminism, multiculturalism, nationalism.

Paper 3

2 hours

Comparative Politics: students will study  sovereignty and globalisation, global governance, political and economic, global governance, human rights and environmental, power and developments, regionalism and the European Union, comparative theories.
