Religion, Ethics and Philosophy (REP)

Key Stage 3

REP covers many differentiated perspectives religiously, ethically and philosophically. You will look at the six main religions throughout Key Stage 3 and delve into philosophical and ethical debates. You will explore key questions such as if God exists and what it means to be moral through to topics covering the philosophy of crime and the Holocaust.

Key Stage 4

In Key Stage 4 the exam board is AQA.

 

GCSE RS

You will study a range of the major world religions, six contemporary ethical themes and two textual studies, providing a diverse choice of intriguing subjects to explore. You will be challenged with questions about beliefs, values, meaning, purpose and truth, enabling you to develop your own attitudes towards religious issues. 

 

The assessment structure is examination based, there are two exams at the end of Year 11. Marks will be given for spelling, punctuation and grammar.

The study of religions: beliefs, teachings and practices.  Each religion has a common structure of two five-part questions.

1 hour 45 minutes

Thematic Study:Either four religious, philosophical and ethical studies themes or two religious, philosophical and ethical studies themes and two textual studies themes.  Each theme has a common structure of one five-part question.

Key Stage 5

In Key Stage 5 the exam board is AQA.

 

A-Level Philosophy

You will engage with complex texts, analysing and evaluating the arguments of others and constructing and defending their own arguments.

 

The assessment structure is examination based, there are two exams at the end of Year 13.
