The Littlehampton Academy is pleased to report some outstanding achievements by its students in their A Level and BTEC Level 3 qualifications this summer.

Sophie Miricola, who achieved nine grade 9s at GCSE, also achieved four A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology and is going on to study Natural Sciences at Homerton College, University of Cambridge. Abigail Wilson-Law achieved three A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics and is off to study Mathematics at St Andrews University. David Nairne also achieved three A* grades in Biology, History and English Literature. William Laker achieved three Distinction* grades and is going to study software engineering at the University of Portsmouth.

This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards. The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic.

Principal, Morgan Thomas, said:

“After another year of disruption to their learning, our students have once again shown their resilience and determination to succeed.  They have worked hard to submit high quality assessments and our teachers have matched that effort in their marking, moderation and submission of grades.  It has been an enormous collective effort to secure successful future pathways for our young people and today’s results show that this has paid huge dividends.  It is important to note that every single one of our students has successfully made it to the destination of their choice; we wish them every success in the future.”

Director of Learning for Key Stage 5, Matt Sealby said:

“I am incredibly proud of each and every one of the students who have received their results today.  Despite the cancellation of public examinations, our students have worked tirelessly through a rigorous assessment process and thoroughly deserve their results.  We wish all of our students the very best for their next steps”

Maisie Smart who achieved A*A*A and is going off to study History and Philosophy at the University of Leeds said:

“It has been a challenging two years but I am delighted to see that all of the hard work that both myself and my peers have put in has paid off and I am incredibly excited to start my next adventure at university”
