Face 2 Face volunteers needed from Year 9
We are looking to recruit a new team of peer listeners from Y9 to help and support the new Y7s in September. If your child is interested please ask them to complete the google form that has been emailed to all Y9 students. The closing date is Friday 17 June. Shortlisting will take place on 20th and interviews will be held on the 22nd. There will be training sessions in the chapel on 27 & 28 June from 2-4pm. Students will receive training in skills to help them to do this role and they will also need to be willing to give up some of their free time to become part of this team. Students are encouraged to speak with Paul Sanderson our Chaplain if they have any questions.

Year 10 News
Year 10 students had a seminar workshop this week with Elevate Education called Student Elevation. The workshop covered:

  • Techniques for self motivating
  • The role of belief and self-efficacy in performance
  • Developing a growth mindset
  • Increasing motivation through goal attachment
  • Breaking goals into manageable tasks and deadlines

The student feedback showed that they really appreciated the workshop and found the goal setting aspects and the tips on self-motivation very useful. The student workbook can be found on our website under the exams section.

Year 10 Formal Core Mocks
Formal Year 10 Mock examinations in core subjects will take place during the week beginning Monday 27 June 2022. These exams are an excellent opportunity for students to rehearse for their real examinations in Year 11. The revision process and the formative assessment feedback they receive will also prove very useful in their learning journey.

The following papers will be examined in the exam hall under strict exam conditions:

Science AQA
Paper 1 Biology Triple/Combined
Paper 1 Chemistry Triple/Combined
Paper 1 Physics Triple/Combined

English Language AQA
Writers’ Viewpoints and Perspectives and Writing to Persuade

English Literature AQA

Mathematics Edexcel
Paper 2 - Calculator Paper

More detailed information and the exam timetable will be sent out next week, and the students will have an assembly about the mocks and the expectations regarding conduct in formal examinations. When they are not in mock exams, students will be in their usual timetabled lessons.

All other subjects will conduct in-class assessments. Mock examination and assessment results will be put into Go4Schools markbooks.
