Mr N Pollock

NPollock portraitMr Pollock studied English Literature at The University of Exeter, before moving on to complete his PGCE at The University of Sussex. He has worked at TLA and its predecessor school LCS for his entire career and is deeply proud of the many students he has worked with and seen move on to do great things over the years. He has taught English to all levels and abilities, but particularly specialised in A Level teaching and learning, something that remains a burning passion to this day. Mr Pollock began his leadership journey with whole school roles in gifted and talented students and Literacy, before becoming Deputy Subject Leader for English in 2011, subsequently becoming the Director of Faculty for Communications (English, MFL, Media Studies and Project Qualifications) in 2016, a post he held for five years before being appointed to the Senior Leadership Team in December 2020 as Assistant Principal: Director of Standards (Y8 and 9). Since taking on the role, he has primarily focused on behaviour, rewards, culture, climate and tutoring, as well as new staff induction.

Away from the classroom, Mr Pollock is, as an English teacher, an avid reader of literary fiction, as well as high fantasy, football tactics, literary philosophy and cultural criticism. He also has a passion for History and reads a lot on the Classical, Medieval and 20th Century periods. Mr Pollock is a published professional wrestling journalist, primarily covering WWE, and wrote a regular column on a major website for eight years. He also formed one quarter of a successful professional wrestling podcast and is now one quarter of a football podcast looking back at the great teams of the past. He is an avid football and NFL fan (supporting Tottenham Hotspur and Pittsburgh Steelers) and spends a lot of time in front of Sky Sports, as well as a lot of time playing FIFA Ultimate Team on his PS5! Music is another huge passion, particularly collecting limited edition vinyl and playing guitar. Mr Pollock is a keen runner, with his favourite distance being the half marathon, and is a passionate advocate of raising awareness of mental health, and of mental health charities, for whom he likes to raise money.
