OFSTED ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to you with good news!

As you know, the school received a full inspection from Ofsted last month - the first one since the pandemic began. The report from that visit has now been sent to me; I shared the outcome with students in a special assembly today and I am now writing to provide you with a copy of that report.  You can view it here.

I am delighted to announce that the school has been graded ‘Good’ in all areas and ‘Good’ for overall effectiveness.  It is the first time that the school has received this outcome since it became an academy in 2009 and this is a fantastic achievement. The inspection has finally given this community the recognition that it deserves.

It is the concerted efforts of students, staff and parents that has made TLA the very good school that it is today.  I would like to pay tribute to our young people, in particular, who are the very best ambassadors for our school: we are proud of them and I hope that this judgement will ensure that they can hold their heads up high and be proud of themselves.

I would also like to thank parents and carers for their support over the years and in the run-up to this inspection. It is much appreciated.

On a personal note, I am incredibly pleased to see this outcome for TLA. I joined the academy just after it had gone into Special Measures in 2014 and then became Principal in 2016. I made a commitment at that time to ensure that the school followed a pathway of continuous improvement to secure Ofsted ‘Good’ and that has now been achieved. As such, I have seen the journey that the school has been on and I know how important it is for parents and children to be able to be proud of their school and have faith in the quality of education that is being delivered.

There are many strengths of the school that have been rightly recognised; as always, there are things that we can do better still and we will now be turning our attention to those matters.  Having secured a solid platform for further improvement, I have no doubt that TLA will continue to go from strength to strength and be an ever better school in the future.

This report has been shared with the press and we expect to see coverage over the next week or so.  Please also take the time to read the report with your children: it is about them and their future and I hope that they will realise just how good they really are.

Yours faithfully,
