Ofsted report

Our full inspection report has now been published on the Ofsted website.  It has also now been published in the media and you can see the main report here.  Once again, a very big well done to the whole community for this achievement.  We will now start planning the next round of improvements!

Cycling safety
Quite a number of our students cycle to school; they are usually very responsible, but there have been incidents (including one recently involving a younger child), where pedestrians have been endangered by students on bikes or scooters travelling to and from the academy. Road safety is of the utmost importance, as is being in proper control of your bike, so we ask all students to travel at a safe speed and be very aware of pedestrians and other hazards.

Year 9 Options
We will be shortly meeting with our year 9 students to formally launch the Year 9 into Year 10 Personalised Curriculum; this is the key stage 4 options process. Students will receive their personalised curriculum booklet which contains further information about this process and also their personalised application form. There will also be a focus on careers and subject choices in their lessons throughout this process.

Congratulations to Sophia Hendey, Year 9
The Rotary Arun Youth Community Awards were held on Wednesday at the Windmill Theatre in Littlehampton. I am delighted to announce Sophia was presented with an award in recognition of her good service in the community. Sophia was the overall winner in the 11-13 year old category.

Sophia gets on and helps others in a quiet and unassuming way. During lockdown she attended the keyworker provision at school and helped many others with their work. She is an active member of the Littlehampton Lifesaving Club and has constantly persevered to fit in her training and exams around the various lockdowns and pool closures. She works tremendously hard and has recently passed her advanced life support exams. Paul, our Chaplain, wrote: "Sophia is caring, passionate and committed to making the world she lives in a safer and happier place. Well done Sophia we are all very proud of you."

A big thank you to everyone for your generous donations. Thanks to Paul and his team of students who sorted out the donations and helped load the van on Tuesday afternoon. Your kindness will make a big difference. Thank you.
