Key Stage 4

In Key Stage 4 the exam board is AQA.

 

GCSE Sociology helps you to gain knowledge and understanding of key social structures, processes and issues through the study of families, education, crime and deviance and social stratification. You will develop their analytical, assimilation and communication skills by comparing and contrasting perspectives on a variety of social issues, constructing reasoned arguments, making substantiated judgements and drawing reasoned conclusions.

 

The assessment structure is examination based and students complete two papers.

The sociology of families and education explores the sociology of families, the sociology of education and relevant areas of social theory and methodology.

Paper 2

1 hour and 45 minutes

The sociology of crime and deviance and social stratification explores the sociology of crime and deviance .The sociology of social stratification and relevant areas of social theory and methodology.  

50%

 

Key Stage 5

In Key Stage 5 the exam board is AQA.

 

You will learn the fundamentals of the subject and develop skills valued by higher education (HE) and employers, including critical analysis, independent thinking and research.
